The Gulf of Mexico Foundation has been busy and it looks like 2012 will be a very productive year for our foundation. We just wrapped up a very successful board meeting and donor reception in Galveston, Texas on February 23, 2012.. The GMF staff were on hand to provide our board members with the latest information on our Habitat Restoration and Conservation projects, our plans for the Habitat Restoration Technology Training Center which will be located in Galveston, Texas and our expanding education programs including our Down Under, Out Yonder Coral Reef Expedition, the Intracoastal Waterway Wetland Expedition and our Multicultural Education Program.
Education is one of our main focuses at the Gulf of Mexico Foundation. By fostering diverse education and leadership programs, we aim to increase awareness, understanding and stewardship about the Gulf of Mexico. Our hands-on expeditions and workshops provide quality professional development for teachers while our student activities encourage youth to become stewards of the environment in which they live.
The Gulf of Mexico Foundation’s Conservation and Restoration programs tackle our mission from every angle, working to fund on-the-ground restoration, streamline resource management practices, support habitat protection, and provide resources to organizations, agencies and the public.
