Conn Brown Harbor in Aransas Pass was the first of several sites in South Texas to receive new Oil and Bilge Water Recovery Units.

Along the South Texas coast several new Oil and Bilge Water Recovery Units have been put in place by the Pollution Prevention Partnership, Office of Community Outreach at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi. In addition to Conn Brown Harbor, other recovery units were placed at the Fulton Marina, the Port Aransas Marina and the Corpus Christi Marina.

Organizers estimate the units will capture 100,000 gallons plus of oily water and around 10,000 gallons of waste engine oil annually.

The Gulf of Mexico Foundation salutes community efforts like these aimed at making the Gulf cleaner and healthier. (Click on the small photos at left to enlarge).
