April 2011 - We just passed the one-year anniversary of the Macondo
blowout on April 20 and the Gulf of Mexico seems to be recovering.
The fisheries are open and tourists are booking hotel rooms for beachside relaxation.
The Gulf of Mexico Foundation is also moving forward with
exciting new programs in education, outreach and restoration.
On April 29 the Chairman of the
GMF Board of Directors Wayne Johnson and GMF Deputy Director
Ryan Fikes will be in New York City to accept
EPA’s
Environmental Award for the Foundation’s work in the Caribbean in restoration and education. On May 1 I, along with most of the Board of
Directors, will accept an award from the Offshore Technology Conference recognizing the Foundation’s work on economic and environmental challenges.
We are excited and honored to work beside the EPA and offshore industries.
I am traveling almost constantly and speaking in a diversity of forums. For two presentations, one in The Woodlands at the Flow Measurement
Conference and one at Northwest Florida State College. For more on these presentations,
please follow us on
Facebook.
I hope to have some exciting announcements to make in our next newsletter. Stay tuned and stay engaged.
