Artist Boat, a unique 501(c)(3) environmental nonprofit located in Galveston, Texas, was awarded two grants to offer professional development training to oil and gas industry employees at no cost to the company. The Watershed Education Training (WET) includes a fun, hands-on, two-hour workshop and a four-hour kayak adventure on Galveston Bay based on the Eco-Art Adventure program the organization offers to school groups. The Stewardship Training in the Coastal Zone is a habitat restoration adventure and offers a “Bay Brown Bag” lunch session with fun, hands-on activities in a two-hour session. Then, in the “Bay Team Investors” component participants visit a wetland plant nursery and prepare plants for the “Bay Stewards” who will travel to a salt marsh on Galveston Bay to plant smooth cordgrass in a marsh restoration adventure. Both training programs promote team building and will engage employees in discussions about the natural resources of Galveston Bay.
Artist Boat has space available and would like to reach as many people and organizations as possible. See the brochures describing the trainings by clicking on the links below and contact Artist Boat for more information.
